The Jerolene T. Mosley Early-Childhood Music Education Grant

The Jerolene T. Mosley Early-Childhood Music Education  Grant, supports the learning and instruction of music in K-6 Montessori, Waldorf or Reggio Emilia school classrooms. The Music Grant seeks to inspire diverse elementary-aged students by creating an active learning environment of music within the classroom through hand activities, dance movement, recognition of instruments, musical sounds, exposure to genres, and music composition. These experiences culminate into performances in which the students exhibit and share their joy of learning music. The Music Grant focuses on the financial need in non-profit schools. 


The Grant

Music Grants in the range of $1,500 - $10,000. 

Guidelines Include:

  • Applicants must show an ongoing commitment to serving Kindergarten to 6th Grade students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Applicants must include a detailed curriculum plan of their music program indicating how instruments, dance and learning about music is a part of the classroom.

Grant Eligibility Includes:

  • A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
  • A Montessori, Waldorf or Reggio Emilia qualified institution.
  • Priority is given to institutions located in Wayne County Michigan or Davidson County, Tennessee.

Application and Submission Instructions Include:

Your application should be written with close attention to instructions and with the recognition that the decisions of the Grant Administrator are final. Applications must be submitted by 6:00 P.M. EST on August 1, 2025 for the upcoming academic year, 

Award and Reporting Include:

Previous support through this Music Grant or any other funding from the Sebastian-Tunis Foundation, does not indicate ongoing or renewed support. Music Grants are non-renewable, and are non-transferable.

The Mosley Music Education Grant, supports the learning and instruction of music in Elementary, Middle and High school classrooms. The Music Grant seeks to create an active learning environment for music within the classroom through recognition of instruments, musical sounds, exposure to genres, and music composition. The Music Grant focuses on the financial need in non-profit schools.

  • Applicants must include a detailed curriculum plan of their music program indicating how instruments and learning about music is a part of the classroom.

Grant Eligibility Includes:

  • A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, or
  • A public school or religious organization recognized by the IRS as a public charity, and
  • Priority is given to institutions located in Jackson or Williamson County Illinois, or Davidson County Tennessee.
